Kristal Shaff grew up with books (and used to drive her mom crazy when she wouldn't leave the library). The first book she read on her own was Dr. Seuss, though she can't remember exactly which one. Even when she got older, her first job was shelving books at the public library. Some people say they spent all of their lives writing. That isn't the case for Kristal. She went to college, studied Music Education, taught one year, and then quit to become a mom. Then one day, she read a book and decided: "Hey, I can do this!"
And so, Writer Kristal was born.
After writing her first book-with lots of stinky early drafts-she got an agent. The book fizzled in submission and now she is back into the mass of unagented writing ranks (but she is determined to remedy that in the near future). She writes all realms of fantasy fiction.
Kristal resides in Iowa with her farmer husband and 3 awesome kids. When she isn't writing, she is a face painter who enjoys making children smile.
