Powers of the Six
Book 1 in Emissary of Light series
Six rare powers govern the land of Adamah. Possessing one demands entrance to the king’s army. To refuse means death.
For hundreds of years, dark clouds covered the skies of Adamah, and an ageless king ruled. Those who emerged with one of six extraordinary Shay powers were forced into the king's army, an unmatched force with inhuman Strength, Speed, Accuracy, Perception, Empathy, and Healing. With the army behind him, the king—a man who wields all six abilities—was invincible and unquestioned in his rule.
To most, serving the king was an honor. But for others, it was a fate worse than death. When seventeen-year-old Nolan Trividar witnesses the transformation of his brother from kind to cruel after entering the king’s army, he vows never to follow the same path.
POWERS OF THE SIX take you to another world where the smallest person can do extraordinary things, the undead infest the night, and the sun emits more than just warmth and light.

The Six Shay Powers
Shay of Accuracy:
Accuracy enables the wielder to have inhuman precision, in everything. From writing to throwing a rock, or anything else they strive to do. Soldiers in the Rol’dan army who have Accuracy are equipped with the bow. Rol’dan Accuracy archers hit exactly where they intend, as long as it is in their range of vision. When they use their power, their eyes glow blue.
Shay of Empathy:
Empathy allows a person to feel the emotions of others, even before a person realizes it themselves. They can speak telepathically to someone else with Empathy, as long as they are able to see each other. If they are very powerful in their Shay, they can not only feel emotions, but push those feelings and intensive them, even controlling and directing the person’s thoughts. They can also sense the presence of other Shays inside people. When one uses Empathy, their eyes glow violet.

Shay of Speed:
Speed and reflexes are intensified, to the point where someone with common sight cannot even see. They travel distances quickly, and therefore are used as messengers. Only another person with Speed can see their actions when they are using their power. They are the most dangerous of fighters, and in the Rol’dan army, they are trained in the art of sword combat. When one uses Speed, their eyes glow golden yellow.

Shay of Strength:
One who has Strength has inhuman might. They can lift objects the common man would envy. Their bones harden like iron rods, and their skin strengthens like the toughest of leather. It is difficult to stab, slash, hit, bruise, or crush one who has Strength. In the Rol’dan army, they are trained with large blunt weapons, such as a war hammer. When one uses Strength, their eyes glow red.

Shay of Perception
Perception gives its user enlightened senses. From being able to see far distances, to overhearing conversations across the room. Everything, including touch, taste, smell, sight and sound, are amplified beyond normal boundaries. In the Rol’dan army, Perception Rol’dan are used for watchmen or for finding out information. Nothing you say is safe when a Perception Rol’dan is around. When one uses Perception, their eyes glow orange.

Shay of Healing
Those with Healing absorb an injury before mending it, such as broken bones, cuts and other wounds. It is a painful process, so they choose selectively what and who to heal. They cannot grow back severed limbs, but they can bring back the dead—but to do so they sacrifice their own lives. It is always wise to be friends with one with a Healing Shay; it could save your life. When one used Healing, their eyes glow emerald green.
